→ABOUT DUONG MACRO
I am Duong. I do not believe markets can be predicted with precision. I do believe that money, credit and expectations leave a trail.
Interest rates change. Credit expands and contracts. Liquidity moves between banks, equities, gold, real estate and the real economy.
Prices can appear chaotic in the short run. Behind that noise are larger movements in policy, capital and asset cycles.
DUONG MACRO is where I document the work of observing those movements and translating them into better capital allocation decisions.
Not to predict tomorrow, but to understand where money is, where the cycle may be, which scenarios are possible and where capital may be positioned.
THE RIGHT ASSET. THE RIGHT TIME.
A good asset is not automatically a good investment. Equities can be exceptional businesses, but not at every valuation. Real estate can build substantial wealth, but not at every stage of the credit cycle. Gold can protect purchasing power, but not at every point in the monetary cycle.
If the view is wrong, can the portfolio remain in the game long enough to learn?
THE DUONG MACRO FRAMEWORK
A repeatable decision chain for navigating uncertainty without pretending that cycles run on a fixed clock.
Observe where money and credit are being created, priced and withdrawn.
→Identify the phase of the economy and the different clocks across asset markets.
→Build base, bull and bear cases instead of relying on one precise forecast.
→Allocate according to probability, timing, downside and the ability to stay invested.
THE FUTURE IS UNCERTAIN
A policy decision can change capital flows. A shock can change expectations. A market that appears to have bottomed can fall further.
01What is the base case?
02What is the bull case?
03What is the bear case?
04What are the relative probabilities?
05Which catalysts matter?
06What is the primary risk?
07What would invalidate the thesis?
AN OPEN INVESTMENT JOURNAL
Ideas should be accountable.
Some ideas will work. Some will fail. Both should remain.
The objective is not to construct a history in which every prediction appears correct. It is to preserve the information, assumptions, probabilities and risks that existed when a decision was made—and to build a history of better thinking.
